Consultations open now

1 March 2024

Consultation is now open on Rotorua Lakes Council’s 2024-2034 Long-term Plan (LTP) and we want to hear from you about what’s proposed. Consultation has been extended to Friday 10 May 2024.

The Long-term Plan is an important guiding document that will set out what Council plans to deliver across the 10-year period and how that will be funded.

Proposals in the consultation document follow a series of workshops for elected members to provide direction and determine preferred options for inclusion in the Long-term Plan.

Council has a vision for a better Rotorua for all and through the Long-term Plan is seeking to deliver investment in essential services while balancing the pressure of increasing costs with affordability.

The focus is on delivering critical and essential services and doing these well, ensuring every dollar spent has real benefit for the community.

Community feedback is vital and Council is encouraging all locals to have their say.

Feedback will be taken into consideration when the Council makes its final decisions on what will be included in the 2024-2034 Long-term Plan.

The finalised plan needs to be adopted by the end of June 2024 and will take effect from 1 July 2024, which is the start of the 2024/25 financial year.

Check out the consultation document, supporting documents and strategies and share your views.

There are several ways for you to give feedback and you can also attend consultation events to find out more and speak to elected members about what’s proposed.

Council services, work programmes and projects impact on your everyday life and elected members want to know if you think they’ve got things right.

Hearings

The next stage is hearings. People who indicated they want to speak to their submission are contacted to schedule a date and time to do so. Each will have five minutes, including time for questions. Hearings are being held between 21 May and 31 May at the Civic Centre. These are open to the public and will also be livestreamed.

Following hearings elected members will deliberate and make decisions and the finalised LTP will be adopted at the end of June, taking effect from 1 July 2024.
