Thank you for taking the time to have your say.

Thank you to those that made submissions on the proposed disposal of Ranginui street reserve. A total of 107 submissions were received and two people spoke to their submissions at the hearings on 24 March.

There are two parts to the final decision-making process and these are as follows:

  1. Council will decide whether to dispose of the land or not at the Council meeting of 30 April. If Council decides not to dispose of the land there is no further action.
  2. If Council decides to dispose of the land, a decision about how that will happen would be made at a later Council meeting. That is likely to be at the Council meeting of 28 May.

Council meetings are open to the public to attend and are also livestreamed – you can watch live or after the meeting via the Rotorua Lakes Council Youtube channel.

Thank you again for contributing to Council decision-making.

Rotorua Lakes Council proposed to sell a piece of land it owned at 21-23 Ranginui Street, Ngongotahā, known as Ranginui Street Reserve.

The Council’s elected members had declared the land as no longer needed and suggested selling it. The Council sought community feedback on this plan, as required by Section 138 of the Local Government Act 2002.

Read more about the history of the land, and watch the meeting where the elected members discussed declaring the land as surplus to requirements:
