Thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts on the Rotorua Night Market location trial. The survey is now closed, and we appreciate the time and insights provided by our community, local businesses, and market participants. While feedback on the trial itself is still being analysed, here’s a snapshot of who took part and how people currently use the market.

Who we heard from

A total of 372 people responded to the survey:

• Local community: 295 (79%)
• Vendors/contractors: 50 (13%)
• Local businesses: 24 (6%)
• Other: 11 (3%)

How people use the market

• 60% of respondents visit the Rotorua Night Market at least monthly, with almost 40% attending most weeks.
• People commonly visit with family, friends or workmates, though more than a quarter said they also go on their own.
• Nearly a quarter of respondents said they bring visitors to the market when hosting people in Rotorua.

Attendance at both locations

• 98% of respondents had attended the market on Tūtānekai Street (CBD).
• 69% had visited the market during its time at Kuirau Park.

Further insights from the feedback and the next steps for the trial will be shared once the full analysis is complete and elected members weigh up the feedback.
