Solid Waste Bylaw 2016 Review

The Solid Waste Bylaw 2016 is based on four laws that help us manage waste and keep our community clean and healthy. These laws allow the bylaw to:

  • Promote effective and efficient waste management and minimisation in alignment with the Waste Minimisation Act 2008.
  • Protect public health and safety by regulating the collection, transportation, and disposal of waste.
  • Prevent nuisance and littering by setting standards for waste handling and disposal.
  • Define responsibilities of individuals and organisations in managing waste, including the separation of recyclable materials.
  • Support the Council’s Waste Management and Minimisation Plan by providing a legal framework for its implementation.

  • Traffic Bylaw 2018 Review

Under the Land Transport Act 1998, and the Local Government Act 2002, councils can create traffic bylaws to help keep roads safe, manage traffic flow, and make sure parking and road use is fair and efficient.

    General Bylaw 2017 Review

Councils can create general bylaws to help manage things like public spaces, property, and animals. These rules are there to keep people safe, reduce nuisance activities and behaviours, and help everyone enjoy shared spaces. Penalties can apply if the rules are broken.

Dangerous, Affected and Insanitary Buildings Review

Under the Building Act 2004, councils must have a policy to deal with unsafe buildings. This helps keep people safe by making sure risky buildings are identified and managed properly.
