Our plan for our water

Local Water Done Well is the Government’s plan to address New Zealand’s current and future water infrastructure challenges (drinking water, wastewater and stormwater).

As part of this policy, Council needs to make a decision about how it will deliver water services in the Rotorua district.

Legislation related to Local Water Done Well recognises the importance of local decision-making. It outlines the framework for delivery of water, stormwater and wastewater services, with a strong focus on sufficient investment to meet community requirements and keep infrastructure and services operating efficiently and effectively.

Council has considered several models for water service delivery to make a preferred option. We have now received your feedback: your views will impact final decision-making.
