Concept design
Here is the draft concept design. It features a bike track with obstacles, a flying fox, a basketball area, swings, slide, climbing equipment and an obstacle course using lots of natural elements, including wood, logs and rocks.
The play equipment is positioned at the McIntyre Ave end of the reserve. This is to improve safety and accessibility. There are good parking options on McIntyre Ave, and the play space can be seen from the street. The space has been designed to incorporate the existing path, to encourage people to travel through the reserve.

About this renewal
About this play space renewal
The McIntyre Ave/Sala St Reserve playground is due for a full renewal. This means that the equipment is reaching the end of its life and Rotorua Lakes Council will be building a new play space in the reserve, to replace the current swings.
We want to ensure that the community has the opportunity to contribute to the design of the new play space, to generate a sense of pride and ownership, and to ensure Council creates a space that reflects the needs and aspirations of the community.
